Why are telemarketers the rudest people known to man?

seriously...I have never spoken with a pleasant telemarketer that didn't sound like a used car salesman or just flat out rude. This one guy keeps calling my office and asking for the owner and the split second I say he isn't in, the line goes dead. IF YOU ARE GOING TO WASTE MY TIME at least have courtesy to say thanks, I'll call back.
