My cat won't let me touch/pet/pick her up?

The other day, she had a tick, so of course, I started freaking out! I hate bugs.. YUCK! I threw her outside until I came back from the Jewel and to put on her flea/tick stuff. I've been giving her attention, wet food, tuna, warm milk, new toys, CAT NIP and lots of lovin'(well trying!), but right after she smells me, she'll growl! It's been over a week, and my mom says she might be "traumatized" because I was freaking out so much. I feel horrible! She will still come into my room at night and sleep in one of my chairs, but if I touch her she sounds like a dying hog growling! I don't know what to do!! Should I just leave her alone for a few days until she comes back to me? I don't know! PLEASE HELP! ):
